1 Day August 4 8:20 AM – 3:30 PM
The D-E 360° Summer Connections Program will host a Chess Tournament on Friday, August 4 in partnership with NYChessKids.
This tournament is open to ALL young chess players enrolled in public, private, or independent schools, who want to get their first rating and be exposed to how chess tournaments work.
Chess tournaments give children the opportunity to play with others to improve their strategic and critical thinking skills through applied performance. This tournament combines a traditional tournament with a pre-tournament workshop that will enhance student learning and overall game satisfaction in a fun and nurturing environment.
Led by NYChessKids’ Saudin Robovic, International Chess Master and pedagogue, children will be guided through the process of scoring, how to use timers and the general rules of tournament play. Although this is a non-competitive event, students will be awarded trophies for their participation.
Dwight-Englewood Lower School, Drapkin Hall
315 East Palisade Ave. Englewood, NJ 07631

This chess tournament will be rated through the United States Chess Federation (USCF). Students must be registered with USCF to participate in the event and to receive a rating. Click here to join. (There is a fee of $17 for the annual membership).
