Discoveries

by Mrs. Stacy Carela

Looking Forward to a Week Full of Fun!

  • During the week of July 11, all our Discoveries campers will learn about the original Olympic Games in ancient Greece!   We will kick off our own “opening ceremony” with a torch lighting and experience other traditional (and some more innovative, new) celebrations, all with an Olympics focus.  Check out each of our Discoveries Group updates online here within Summer Notes, with additional details from each of our teachers regarding the week full of fun that’s just ahead!
  • Reminders:
    • On Wednesday, July 13 we will enjoy Discoveries’ Water Play. On Water Play days, please send your child(ren) to camp already dressed in their bathing suits and covered with sun block, and please remember to provide them with a towel and a change of dry clothes for afterwards.
    • On Thursday, July 14, we will celebrate  “Theme Thursday” with “Toga Day”!!! All Discoveries children are invited and encouraged to come to camp wearing a white sheet, sandals, gold leaves, laurel (head leaf) wreath, or any other Olympics- or Greek-inspired apparel and/or accessories!
    • July Food Drive:  Beginning Wednesday, July 13 through Monday, July 25, we are holding our annual July Food Drive.  Once again this year, D-E 360° Summer Connections is partnering with Englewood’s Center for Food Action. Please help out and contribute nonperishable food items, baby products and/or toiletries for families in need this summer; donations can be dropped off at the Discoveries & Adventures program desk.  To download a July Food Drive info. flyer (PDF) click here.
