Can I visit my child at camp?

For the safety of all of our campers and staff, we ask families and friends of families to refrain from entering the school building during the camp day. We will regularly host events for families to join us on campus.

When are the earliest Drop-off and latest Pick-up times? 

For Discoveries & Adventures (Pre-K – Grade 4)

A member of our faculty or staff will assist your child into/out of your car. In order to make this as smooth as possible, please maintain a single file line to the right and seat your child on the passenger side of your car. The left lane must be kept clear for vehicles exiting campus.

If your child can buckle his or her own seat belt, please remain in your. If not, you will have to get out of the car to assist him or her. Please do not leave your vehicle unattended.

A car tag will be provided on your child’s first day of camp. Please indicate the child’s family name and group number on the car tag and place it in the windshield of the passenger side.

For Enrichment & Scholars (Grades 5 – 12)

The first session begins at 8:20 AM and the last session ends at 3:30 PM. Your child is expected to be picked up when his or her classes are finished for the day. The Library and cafeteria will open at 7:45 AM for all Middle and Upper School students arriving before class begins. After class, students may wait to be picked up at the Library Circle or inside of the Imperatore Library. Please inform the D-E 360° SC Office at 201-227-3144 (option 1) if your child cannot be picked up by 3:45 PM and needs to register for AfterCare, which is open to children in any age group. Repeated lateness when picking up students will result in an additional $45 late fee or dismissal from D-E 360° SC.

 What should my child bring to camp?

 For Discoveries & Adventures (Pre-K – Grade 4)

Discoveries campers should bring a blanket and pillow for rest time. This can be kept in their cubbies.

For Enrichment & Scholars (Grades 5 – 12)

Bring a water bottle, food or means of purchasing food, and pens and pencils. If they are enrolled in a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) class, your child will be instructed to bring a device (has to be a laptop; not a phone). All Academic Enrichment & Scholars classes are BYOD classes.

What should my child NOT bring to camp? 

For Discoveries & Adventures (Pre-K – Grade 4)

Please do not bring any electronics, personal sports equipment, money, valuables, or toys. Dwight-Englewood is not responsible for lost or damaged items.

For Enrichment & Scholars (Grades 5 – 12)

Please do not bring any valuables. Dwight-Englewood is not responsible for lost or damaged items. 

Where will my child leave his or her belongings?

 For Discoveries & Adventures (Pre-K – Grade 4)

Adventures campers will be given lockers and Discoveries campers will be given cubbies to store their belongings.  Campers’ possessions may be stored here Monday through Friday. Each Friday, lockers will be cleaned out and campers may bring their things back the following Monday.

For Enrichment & Scholars (Grades 5 – 12)

Each camper will need to have their belongings with them; backpacks and/or totes are typically used by most of our Enrichment & Scholars campers.

How will my child find his or her way to classes and activities?

For Discoveries & Adventures (Pre-K – Grade 4)

Discoveries & Adventures campers are always with a teacher or counselor, and so there is no need to worry about your camper getting lost.

For Enrichment & Scholars (Grades 5 – 12)

In addition to our friendly “blue shirts” (counselors and TA’s) who will help your child find his or her way around campus, we have 3 options for locating classes. Posted at each building will be a campus map, room assignments organized by building in which they are located accompanied by pictures of that building, and room assignments organized by time session.

What are my child’s dining options?

For Discoveries & Adventures (Pre-K – Grade 4)

Lunch will be available to campers everyday if you choose not to send lunch with your child. On Adventures field trip days (Wednesdays), a bag lunch will be provided. If you choose to send lunch with your child on these days, please send disposable containers. On every Friday, the lunch menu will be sent out through Summer Notes email. For Enrichment & Scholars (Grades 5 – 12)

Campers have the option of bringing from food from home or purchasing it here in our cafeteria. On-campus lunch includes a daily hot meal, a salad bar, sandwich bar, cereal, and fruit. Campers can pay with cash or load money onto a prepaid account. Minimum account balance is $20. Menus of our rotating hot meals can be found online: see next paragraph.

What if there is severely hot or inclement weather?

Hydration is key; water will be available around campus. Please also supply your camper with a water bottle. Air-conditioned rooms will be used at various points of the day. In the event of severe thunder showers, campers are not allowed outside and programs will be held indoors.

What special events are going on at camp? What are “Showcases”?

For Discoveries & Adventures (Pre-K – Grade 4)

Adventures campers go on weekly field trips. On periodic occasions, there are Friday “Showcase” events for Discoveries and Adventures campers, about which parents will be informed in advance by their teacher/group leader.  Adventures campers will also occasionally have the opportunity to enjoy watching “Showcase” events by Enrichment campers.  These events are free admission and all ages are welcome and encouraged to join in attending.

For Enrichment & Scholars (Grades 5 – 12)

Every Friday at camp, we have a Friday “Showcase”! This is a chance for more performance-oriented classes to display what they have been working on and learning. Your camper’s teacher and/or counselors will let you know if your camper will be in a “Showcase” on any given Friday.

Where is the Health Office /  Nurse located?

What do I do if my child has to be absent from camp?

For Discoveries & Adventures (Pre-K – Grade 4)

Please email adventures@d-e.org if your child will be late, absent, or leaving early. 

For Enrichment & Scholars (Grades 5 – 12)

Please call the Summer Office at 201-227-3144 to alert our team. We will let your camper’s teachers/counselors know.
