All About Olympic History!

  • During the week of July 11, our Adventures campers will be learning all about the history of the Olympics, including its origins and the games of the past, as well as life in ancient Greece!  Check out each of our Adventures Group teachers’ updates below, as they provide additional details about this week’s activities.
  • Reminders for this week include the following:
    • On Wednesday, July 13 our Adventures campers will take their weekly Field Trip.  This week we’ll travel to Madison Square Garden and watch the New York Liberty take on the Atlanta Dream!
    • On Thursday, July 14 we will offer our Adventures campers a Choice Activity; children will be able to choose from a number of exciting new activities being offered, including Jewelry Making, Construction Challenge, TieDye T-Shirt Making, and much more!
    • This Thursday, July 14 is also our weekly “Theme Thursday”  which for this week is “Toga Day”!  All Adventures campers are invited and encouraged to wear a white shirt, sandals, gold leaves, laurel (head leaf) wreaths, and any other Olympics- or Greek-inspired apparel and/or accessories!
    • On Friday, July 15, our Adventures campers will wrap up the week with a scavenger hunt!
    • July Food Drive:  Beginning Wednesday, July 13 through Monday, July 25, we are holding our annual July Food Drive.  Once again this year, D-E 360° Summer Connections is partnering with Englewood’s Center for Food Action. Please help out and contribute nonperishable food items, baby products and/or toiletries for families in need this summer; donations can be dropped off at the Discoveries & Adventures program desk.  To download a July Food Drive info. flyer (PDF) click here.
