Winter 2021 Bulldog Club program details are coming soon! See below for highlights from Spring 2020 and check back again soon! Questions? Email us at: de360info@d-e.org and ‘see’ you soon!
The D-E 360° ACE Team will be providing a Digital Hangout for ALL Lower School students beginning Monday, April 6 from 2:30 – 5:00 PM. The offerings are gratis (FREE!) and focused around giving students interactive recreational time, supervised space to talk and stay connected as well as a curated collection of online resources that children may tap into anytime to reinforce learning or explore something new.
We’re repeating some hit activities from Spring Break, including Mr. Vinny’s Workout, Ms. Katharine’s Reading and Drawing and Ms. Blake’s Broadway Babies. In addition, our ACE partner, NY ChessKids, will continue with chess lessons and daily tournaments. We’re adding to the spring mix a Sing Along (for all grades), an Exploration Station (that invites kids to do projects with “found objects” in their home), a Live Dance Party and Puppeteering.
The Bulldog Club Theme for the Week of June 8
Wag Your Tail – Kickoff to Summer
The D-E 360° ACE Team will be providing a Digital Hangout for ALL Lower School students from 2:30 – 5:00 PM. This week in the Bulldog Club, we are going to have happy summer celebrations. We’ll kick off on Monday with our favorite Chef Loca, Sandra Harrison leading our final Cooking Class of the year: A “Wag Your Tail” Cooking Challenge. Our week will continue with Ms. Arleen’s annual tradition of the Birthday Club celebration, a party for all the Lower School students who enjoy summer birthdays. Students will be invited to a session on caricature drawing of bulldogs with a special guest artist. Mr. Vinny will provide students with an exercise challenge guaranteed to help keep our students fit over the summer. Ms. Katharine and Ms. Sharon will share their favorite books and send our young Bulldogs off to summer with great reading lists. Ms. Raishada will introduce us to her favorite summer songs. And Ms. Blake and Ms. Euleta will take us down memory lane by sharing a collection of videos from our special trips over the last two academic years to Abma’s Farm, The Botanical Gardens Train Show, The Grammy Museum, Mo Math, and the Newark Museum.
The great thing about summer is the freedom to explore, discover new things, and grow. You can do these things regardless of the season but there’s something special about those summer nights and warm days which keeps us alive and plants a fire in our hearts to want more. Here are the top five things we love about summer
- Party songs: We get good vibes just singing some of our favorite summer party songs. You don’t have to go to a party; all you have to do is turn on your favorite radio station and you’ve arrived at one.
- Thunderstorms: Sometimes storms are relaxing. And watching them from your bedroom window is better than anything you could find on Netflix. Nothing like a good lightning show and a steady rain to spark your senses.
- Clothing: Putting together outfits is a breeze. In the summer you have so much less to think about. Fewer clothes, fewer problems. All you need to worry about is what top you’re wearing. And just ask Ms. Sharon; flip flops match EVERYTHING.
- Seasonal Eating: Fun summer treats are among the most memorable parts of the season. Fresh vegetables from the backyard garden or a nearby food stand are especially yummy during summer. And let’s not forget barbecues, picnics in the park, lemon ice stands, and ice cream trucks!
- Dreaming a little bigger with Summer Connections online: Summer camp is summer fun. We can’t cancel fun this summer! We’ve pivoted our programs online with tons of new offerings in dance, music, entrepreneurship as well as academics. Check out our offerings that can be accessed live or with an ANYTIME subscription. Continuing This Week: We’re still going strong with our Study Buddies. Our Programs Director, Sharon Keigher has been working with the Upper School Dean, Debbie Murphy, to coordinate US students who will be available during Bulldog Club time to help LS students with school work. Check out the times in the schedule for Study Buddies and log on during that time. Ms. Sharon will introduce students to their Study Buddies and let them get to work right away in a Zoom Breakout Room.
The offerings are gratis (FREE!) and focused around giving students interactive recreational time, a supervised space to talk and stay connected, as well as a curated collection of online resources that children may tap into any time to reinforce learning or explore something new. We thought we’d also share some fun AnyTime Activities. Check out the videos that feature read alouds for preschoolers through kindergartners about our daily themes as well as inspirational activities for students in grades 1-5.
For easy access, all of our activities are in one room! Log in once and you can come and go as you’d like! The Bulldog Club is live from 2:30-5:00 pm every school day. See next week’s schedule below. We will email the Zoom ID and password to Lower School families for secure access on Sunday. You may also check your grade level LS launch pad for access to the schedule as well as any updates. For questions regarding Chess and Study Buddies, please email Sharon Keigher, D-E 360° Programs Director at keighs@d-e.org.
