Do you dream of taking the stage in a musical theater production? You can hone your theater chops with professional-level musical theater performance training in this two-week intensive course, culminating in a final performance showcase. Each week is filled with core classes in singing, acting, and movement. In addition, you will meet with visiting musical theater artists from the Broadway community. Finally, the program delivers a rigorous rehearsal schedule, final performance showcase and a trip to see a Broadway matinee.

About the Instructor:

John Giresi is currently in his 28th year as Director of Musical Theatre Productions at Fair Lawn High School. He has directed over 250 major productions in the tri-state area, including Merrily We Roll Along, Pippin, Chaplin, Cabaret, Company, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson and A Man Of No Importance. In 2001 his production of Steel Pier won the Paper Mill Playhouse Rising Star Award for Best Overall Production, and Mr. Giresi was ceremoniously awarded his first of three Best Director Awards with the Paper Mill Playhouse.

During John Giresi’s educational theatre career his productions have been awarded Best Overall Musical two times with the Paper Mill Playhouse Rising Star program and four times with the Metropolitan Awards including last years high school premier of Once. In addition, he has been awarded the Best Director Award for Grand Hotel and Runaways with the Metropolitan Awards and Outstanding Direction of A Man of No Importance with the Bucks County Theatre Festival.  John Giresi was the first time recipient of the Peter Filichia Award for Pushing The Envelope In Educational Theatre for his direction of The Sparrow with the Montclair University Theatre Awards.

John Giresi’s teaching experience spans 30 years, which includes his Adjunct Professorship at Fairleigh Dickinson University in 2001 and 2012. He actively free-lances as a guest speaker, director, theatre instructor, composer, and workshop consultant. Many of his former students (including Nick Jonas and Joe Jonas of the Jonas Brothers) may currently be seen in various Broadway, Regional theatre, and film and television projects.
