Adventures Students
Spanish/Drama
This week we continued to travel and landed on the continent of Africa. We talked about the countries that make up this big continent. We read a book called “El Leon Remolon”. It was about African animals, what they eat and the sounds they make. For Drama we played animal charades where we acted out the animals and the other students had to guess who you were.

Cooking

In Cooking; West Africa was our destination and it was enjoyed by all. We learn all about the Plantain/Platanos. We peeled, cut, seasoned and cooked and made an avocado cream sauce that was delicious. We also discovered that every continent has a fried dough and a stuff dough. We made Mandazzi a fried dough that is eaten throughout Africa and is similar, but better than the doughnuts in America. In keeping with our theme, students learned about fruits that are grown and eaten in Africa. Paletas have been a hit for the kids so we made a “Purple Cow Smoothie” that would later become Paletas. Also, Papaya, Banana, Mango and Coconut.
