Annual Spring Break Trip

March 14 – 23, 2025 | 8th Grade

Peru is a country rich with history and remarkable for its indigenous people, culture, and traditions. Students will explore the Andean countryside, visiting ancient ruins, fortresses, and cathedrals that provide a firsthand look into the Inca Empire and subsequent Spanish Conquest. Highlights include Machu Picchu, the Sacred Valley of the Incas, Cusco, and one night camping near Ausangate Glacier in the Rainbow Mountain area.

Croatia

Peace & Reconcillation

July 7 – 17, 2025 | 9th-12th Grade

The Upper School Humanities Department uses global travel to teach culture, identity, and social justice. For the upcoming year, students will engage with the complex history of the Balkans. The civil war in the region left scars that can still be felt. D-E students will meet local people, learn about their experiences, and hear their visions for the future. They’ll contribute to making those visions a reality through meaningful community service in areas still recovering from years of war and conflict. Participants will earn 10 learning service hours.

Puerto Rico

La Isla del Encanto

July 21 – 30, 2025 | 9th-12th Grade

The World Languages Department initiative offers academic experiences that enrich the learning experiences of language D-E students. As students explore the rich culture and history of Puerto Rico, they will conduct guided research, create travel journals with photographs they take, and write blogs describing their experiences. Their work will be presented and shared with their classmates and the D-E community. With all the beautiful historical and cultural excursions, students will have plenty of experiences and memories to share from their trip. This course is Pass/Fail and grants 1.5 credit hours on participants’ D-E transcripts.
