Calling All Entrepreneurs: This week-long academy is designed for the business minded as well as the social entrepreneur. The academy covers full introductory courses in business planning, marketing & financing, and business management. Students will explore the “How To’s” of starting their own business from understanding the basic fundamentals of business to following and creating a business plan. Students collaborating in teams will also create a start up-company from their business plan. The workshop will culminate with an expert panel review of the business plan and student presentations.

In this exciting one-week (5-day) immersive, young entrepreneurs will create their own business! This will include the creation of key business components including a logo/slogan, business advertisements, marketing plan, floor plan, employee schedules and much more! The week will culminate with the completion and submission of a business plan portfolio and a presentation! Each day student’s will be immersed in the following three facets of study:

Session 1 (8:20-10:30) Business Planning seeks to engage students in the practice of planning and organizing key components of a business planning including creating a business name, logo/slogan, floor plan, business philosophy, SWOT analysis and employee schedule.

Session 2 (10:40-12:50) Marketing & Financing seeks to engage students in the practice of projecting the earnings and expenses of a business based on real well-researched and verifiable data. Students will learn how to create Excel pivot tables and graphs, including Excel formulas for computing business finances.

Session 3 (1:30-3:30) Business Management seeks to engage students in the thought process of management and managers by providing students with an insight into the inner workings of human resources, employee relations, conflict resolution, federal and state labor law, the qualities of effective and ineffective management, and other goals.
