Guided by the leadership of Grandmaster Mackenzie Molner, the Dwight-Englewood School Academic Chess Tournaments are underway!

Chess Tournaments allow students to improve their strategic and critical thinking skills through applied performance.  Tournaments at D-E are open to young chess players in grades K-12 who want to be part of competitive Chess.  Students will be awarded prizes for their participation. 

November 14, 2024: Intrascholastic Chess Tournament

Campus Center – Hajjar Auditorium | 1:30 PM – 4:00 PM

The Half Day Academic Chess Tournament at Dwight-Englewood combines a traditional tournament with a pre-tournament workshop to enhance student learning and overall game satisfaction in a fun and nurturing environment. This tournament is open to young chess players from grades K-5 and students in Grades 6 -12 who want to experience how Chess Tournaments work.  Students will be guided through the process of scoring, how to use timers and the general rules of tournament play.  Students will be awarded prizes for their participation. To register for Chess Tournaments first click here to join the USCF, then click below to register for our tournaments. Chess Tournaments are certified through the United States Chess Federation (USCF).  All students must register with D-E 360° and the USCF to participate in the event and to receive a rating. (There is a fee for the annual USCF membership). You do not need to register again if you have already registered with USCF for the current academic year.
