Chess Tournaments 2024-2025 (Kindergarten- 12th Grade)

Guided by the leadership of Grandmaster Mackenzie Molner, the Dwight-Englewood School Academic Chess Tournaments are underway!

Chess Tournaments allow students to improve their strategic and critical thinking skills through applied performance.  Tournaments at D-E are open to young chess players in grades K-12 who want to be part of competitive Chess.  Students will be awarded prizes for their participation. 

November 14, 2024: Intrascholastic Chess Tournament

Campus Center – Hajjar Auditorium | 1:30 PM – 4:00 PM

The Half Day Academic Chess Tournament at Dwight-Englewood combines a traditional tournament with a pre-tournament workshop to enhance student learning and overall game satisfaction in a fun and nurturing environment. This tournament is open to young chess players from grades K-5 and students in Grades 6 -12 who want to experience how Chess Tournaments work.  Students will be guided through the process of scoring, how to use timers and the general rules of tournament play.  Students will be awarded prizes for their participation. How to Register

To register for Chess Tournaments first click here to join the USCF, then click below to register for our tournaments. Chess Tournaments are certified through the United States Chess Federation (USCF).  All students must register with D-E 360° and the USCF to participate in the event and to receive a rating. (There is a fee for the annual USCF membership). You do not need to register again if you have already registered with USCF for the current academic year. 

November 24, 2024: K-12 Championships

Brookdale Community College – Student Life Center 

K-12 Championships in Lincroft, NJ, is an event in which each player will play against other students from the same grade level. There are individual and team prizes awarded. We have a nice group of students signed up and with a few more players, we will have good chances for team awards, which participants will really enjoy. Grandmaster Mac will be there to help the D-E Chess Team and make sure that everything goes well for our players.
