Chess Tournaments 2024-2025 (Kindergarten- 12th Grade)

Guided by the leadership of Grandmaster Mackenzie Molner, the Dwight-Englewood School Academic Chess Tournaments are underway!

Chess Tournaments allow students to improve their strategic and critical thinking skills through applied performance.  Tournaments at D-E are open to young chess players in grades K-12 who want to be part of competitive Chess.  Students will be awarded prizes for their participation. 

March 23, 2025: Scholastic Swiss Tournament

Dwight-Englewood Scholastic Swiss:
Coach Mac is hosting a rated chess tournament on March 23rd for all students, ranging from K-8th grade. The tournament will be a short and fun tournament with trophies or medals for all players. It will take place in the Hajjar Auditorium from 2pm until about 5 or 5:30. It will be a great chance to practice for some of the chess tournaments later in the school year and to have some extra fun during Spring Break. Dwight-Englewood 1700+ Swiss Tournament:
Coach Mac is hosting and playing in an all-day event for players with a US Chess rating above 1700. It’s the strongest monthly chess tournament in New Jersey. Dwight-Englewood students are welcome to play if their rating fits the category, or to come and quietly watch the games in progress. How to Register

To register for Chess Tournaments first click here to join the USCF, then click below to register for our tournaments. Chess Tournaments are certified through the United States Chess Federation (USCF).  All students must register with the Hunter Tournament and the USCF to participate in the event and to receive a rating. (There is a fee for the annual USCF membership). You do not need to register again if you have already registered with USCF for the current academic year.
